The island of Naxos does not need any introduction of its status in the world of windsurfers. The high mountain of Zas (1000mtrs) in the centre of the island with those of Paros form a huge tube where the Meltemi blows constantly and in the month of August can reach to 7-8 beaufors.

The beach infront of Portobello has an excellent position as the wind blows from your right, and waves that can reach at best times 1-1.5 mtrs. 10 mns away there is the locality of Mikri Vigla where wind blows stronger.To find big waves one has to go to the north of the island.

During the month of July the wind is not that strong and consequently ideal to learn wind surfing or practice to perfect it.Thanks to the long beaches there is never problem to practice and be away from others who swim in the area.
