When visiting Naxos prepare for a low key relaxing atmosphere filled with friendly countryside locals. Time spent is quiet, relaxing and without the feeling or need to rush. Naxos being the largest island in the Cyclades, there are many beaches to explore and to get to know. The photographs shown below are within walking distance from Portobello studios. The beach front is 3 klms long with thick granulated sand. This beach is never congested even at the height of the summer season. Summers in Naxos increase in popularity due to heightened changes to challenge one's windsurfing skills and performances. Three minute drive by car from Portobello, will bring you to beaches that are more reclusive and with private alcoves.

While discovering the island, several other crystal water beaches can be found and a variety of trips can be made to visit impressive mountainous scenery, traditional white painted villages and towns, small ancient temple ruins, Byzantine Churches, fishing harbours and an active night life in the main Venetian-type port of Naxos. Traveling to the north of the island is approximately 45 minutes from the studios and 20 minutes from the port of Naxos.

Returning to Portobello Studios by sunset will provide vividly sharp colors of awe-inspiring opportunity to create fabulous photographs to share with those at home.
